The HMS and HSDM Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) seeks to build a supportive community for Vietnamese medical and dental students and to advance equity for Vietnamese people in medicine and dentistry.

We provide a welcoming home where students can find peers, mentorship, and role models who share their cultural background and lived experiences. Recognizing that Vietnamese Americans are often rendered invisible within broader Asian American categorizations and remain historically underrepresented in medicine and dentistry, we are committed to educating the HMS and HSDM community about this unique history, from refugee origins after the Vietnam War to ongoing socioeconomic barriers.

The Health Career Collaborative is an established, innovative program connecting high school students in the Boston Public School system with mentors in health and medicine to inspire interest in healthcare careers, especially among underserved and marginalized communities. Through case-based learning, interactive lectures, skills labs, and hands-on workshops, high school students explore real-world clinical concepts and gain early exposure to medical school environments. This program is tasked with cultivating confidence, purpose, and a sense of belonging in healthcare for underrepresented students.
