Doctors Without Gravity is the Harvard/MIT student chapter of the the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) with the Aerospace Medical Student and Resident Organization (AMSRO). We are a joint chapter between Harvard and MIT, the first of its kind!

Our goal is to foster educational awareness and create opportunities in aerospace medicine, spaceflight biology, and human space exploration broadly. We hope to create a diverse collaborative community inclusive of everybody--from undergraduate and graduate students, to medical students, to faculty, and to all levels of training in between.

HMS SEAM (Students for Environmental Advocacy in Medicine) aims to engage medical and dental students at HMS/HSDM around increasing awareness of the impacts of climate change on human health. Our advocacy initiatives involve a variety of projects relating to climate action; a few examples of projects include expanding composting at HMS, supporting institutional decarbonization efforts, supporting the work of local environmental justice groups, and volunteering for legislative campaigns to advance renewable energy. Our educational arm seeks to further integrate climate and health into the medical curriculum. We also serve as a nexus for students interested in connecting with HMS faculty engaged in research and advocacy in the fields of climate and health, planetary health, and environmental health.

Mission
HMS/HSDM Teddy Bear Clinic is a community outreach initiative for elementary school students to experience medical scenarios by using stuffed animals/action figures as patients. By caring for their stuffed animals, our goal is to help children learn to trust healthcare providers and become less anxious about future medical visits, while also learning basic health concepts. We hope these experiences reinforce the importance of primary care in the children's households and cultivate their interest in pursuing healthcare careers. It also provides an opportunity for medical students to practice their trauma-informed care, patient-friendly language, and physical exam techniques.
